Home / Resources / A waterfront checklist for Florida hurricane season
Storm season is hard on waterfront structures. A little preparation protects your investment.
The best time to address a weak dock or seawall is before a storm tests it. A pre-season look at your waterfront structures catches the small problems that storms turn into big ones.
Secure or remove anything on docks and decks that could break loose. Move boats and floating structures per your hurricane plan. Don't attempt structural work in deteriorating conditions.
Once it's safe, check for new cracks, shifted panels, undermined ramps, damaged pilings, and debris. Document damage with photos for insurance, and get a professional assessment before the next system arrives.
AVS Marine handles storm-damage assessment, repair, demolition of failed structures, and rebuilds across our Florida service area. Call early — demand spikes after a storm.
